I am a graduate student, may I attend?  

Yes, graduate students are welcome to attend. However, we ask graduate students to volunteer for 3 hours to be granted admission.  Graduate students can register as a volunteer here.   

I am not a student or postdoc, may I attend?  

This event is intended to help academic scientists network and learn about career options, so attendance is limited to students and postdocs. If you are not a student or postdoc and believe you have a reason to participate, please e-mail us (BSOCCS@bostonpostdoc.org). 

Where is the event/ can you provide directions?  

The symposium will take place in multiple rooms on the first and second floors of the Broad Institute, located at 415 Main St., Cambridge, MA. 02142.  

How can I take public transit to the Broad?  

The Broad is easily accessible by the Kendall/MIT stop on the red line. Bus lines near the Broad include 47, 64, 68, 70, CT2, 80.

Where can I park near the Broad?  

The Broad’s “Yellow Garage” is located at 77 Ames St., 02142 

Less expensive nearby parking can be found here.

Can I attend one day of the event only?  

Yes, you may attend one day of the symposium only but we require that you pay the full registration fee.  

Should I bring food or will the event be catered?  

Yes, the event will be fully catered.

I have submitted an abstract and have been approved to present a poster. When/ where should I set up my poster?  

We ask presenters to put up their posters from 3-4pm on Friday, June 8th in the Broad Institute atrium/ lobby. Tacks and boards will be provided.

What size should my poster be?  

Posters should be a maximum of 4ft. high by 4 ft. wide.

I have a financial hardship, may I attend for free?  

We have a low $40 registration fee for the symposium due to outside sponsorship and hope the cost is not a financial burden to anyone. If you need financial assistance please e-mail us (BSOCCS@bostonpostdoc.org) and we will decide how we can help in a case-by-case basis. 

Furthermore, if your abstract is selected for a poster or talk, we will refund you the registration costs on site. Additionally, volunteers are an essential part of our symposium’s success, and those who contribute a minimum of three hours of their time during the event will be refunded on site.  

Will there be options for reduced registration costs?

Will there be childcare provided?  

No, unfortunately we are unable to offer childcare at the symposium.  

Special dietary needs and allergies?  

The catered food will have a vegetarian option. We apologize for not being able to provide for other dietary needs. 

Is the symposium handicapped accessible?  

Yes, the Broad Institute is fully handicapped accessible. 

Where in the Broad will the symposium be located?  

The symposium will take place in multiple rooms on the first and second floors of the Broad Institute. 

Will this event be recorded?  Will it be videoconferenced?  

We aim for the event to be videoconferenced live, but we will not record it for future viewing. Please check back soon for confirmation.
